Here are some things you should be doing to use social media the right way to land your next job.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Keep your profiles relevant.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Almost everyone today has a professional LinkedIn profile to help them with their job search. You should also create complimentary accounts on other social media platforms. Perhaps you want to create professional Twitter, Pinterest, or Instagram accounts to help promote your personal brand. Facebook should also be kept professional if your settings are public. To keep Facebook mostly personal be sure to update your privacy settings.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Network online.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Next, you need to use these social media platforms to engage with companies. Follow them on Twitter and Facebook and participate in conversations. This will get your name on their radar. Also, you will be in a position to see newly posted job requisitions before the general public and you can jump on them.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Stay active online.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>One of the biggest mistakes job seekers make is to create these profiles, especially LinkedIn, and forget about them. LinkedIn should be considered a living resume and updated consistently. Your profiles will eventually fall off the radar if they haven&#8217;t been updated within a certain period of time.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Become a resource.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>You want to position yourself as an online resource in your industry. To do this most people will create their own blog and post about industry news, answer questions, and encourage discussion. You can promote these blog posts on your social media pages to gain more readership.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Create a strategy.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Finally, you want to make sure that you aren&#8217;t just creating profiles and not using them to their potential.
